Haiti Earthquake

On January 12, 2010, a devastating earthquake hit Haiti. Catholic Relief Services was on the ground and immediately began responding with food, water and medical assistance and will continue to accompany the people of Haiti as they recover from this natural disaster. CRS could not provide this life-saving assistance if not for the generosity of people, like you, in the United States.

CRS continues to be grateful for this outpouring of prayers and donations. We know that people often want to help in times of emergencies. You can help by continuing to pray with and join in solidarity with our sisters and brothers affected by the earthquake in Haiti.

• Hold a Food Fast to pray for the people of Haiti. Donations collected during your Food Fast may be designated for Haiti Earthquake Relief. Please send checks to Catholic Relief Services – Haiti Earthquake, P.O. Box 17090, Baltimore, MD 21203-7090.

Download prayer and educational resources designed to explore the challenges facing the people of Haiti and possible ways of responding in faith.

Papal Encyclical Enlightens Social Teaching, Mission

Along with the Universal Church, Catholic Relief Services rejoices in Pope Benedict XVI’s encyclical on social teaching, Caritas in Veritate (Charity in Truth). As an agency, we’ve grown in a deeper understanding of our own mission through our study and reflection on the Holy Father’s first two encyclicals, Deus Caritas Est and Spe Salvi. We look forward to deeper insights into the principles of Catholic social teaching and our mission of serving the poorest of the poor around the world from Caritas in Veritate.
